yeah I'm posting to Jaiku, have to rethink how, though - I've been using Qaiku and feeding everything I've said there through twitterfeed and ping.fm here - but of course now that won't work as my Qaiku RSS has gone private as well.
One of my most persistent IRC stalkers surfaced again today and I don't want anything too sensitive to leak to him or others like him.
@bogart: indeed. What saddens me is that I had to drop identi.ca from my configurations altogether as I have no way of controlling who gets to read the RSS feed of my entries. I tightened my Facebook settings so basically nothing seeps out anymore - and it feels really sad as I've used it as a professional tool from the start, as it was introduced to me in my previous work by a social media / community expert. This whole thing makes me really sad, but I've had enough of this.
My stalker is an Indian who I considered ok, but a bit nosy at first, and from there things just got worse. After all the water in River Cam - about 9 months later, things are now in a state that I'm afraid of every single Indian that I notice within 20 meter distance from me. He knows the town where I live, the company I work for, has declared to come to Finland and among other things, to meet me. The final straw was when he tried to add me as his friend and call me on Skype few months back, after which he was banned on most IRC channels I've been active in...
Oh well... Life goes on and I feel a lot safer now that I've got my privacy settings in order again.
Wow that's quite a saga there. Sorry to hear you had to go through that. There are some strange people out there and it's such a shame to hear when that affects how you go about your affairs.
Hopefully after a period of invisibility you'll feel comfortable enough to dip your feet in the public stream again.
Federation is key, and I know this is tops in the minds of the Jaiku and Identi.ca devs, as well as other groups. Though twitter probably doesn't care.

Wow, have things been very bad with public settings? That sounds mad.
You'll still be posting on Jaiku though right?

tricky social media problems. Would be solved by better federation of services, I think.
In the current state of affairs, once you take the streams private, it means a lot more work on your end to keep connected to all of them :(
